Canada Day at Granville Island

“I have to celebrate you baby.”

-Fatboy Slim (from “Praise You”)

Every July 1st, we have a tradition of riding our bikes to Granville Island to eat lunch, check out the festivities and celebrate Canada’s birthday. This year, Mike took pity on me and we drove instead. Maybe he was imagining his wife wilting, draped over her Schwinn’s handlebars in this recent heat wave.

Vancouver’s International Jazz Festival finished that day at Granville Island, which is one of the prettiest places to eat lunch outside and listen to a free concert. We finished the day with ice cream at Glenburn Soda in Burnaby Heights.

Hope you had a nice Canada Day!

  1. Would you like an authentic Italian espresso connoisseur to join your team? I know someone. Angelo’s cousin is in town and hes often telling me how good the espressos are around town.
